Parwen Babaker Hama Agha
Nationality Kurdish
Having served as a government minister in the Kurdish Regional Government, and now
serving as CEO of Wza Petroleum and the Executive Board member of Nokan Group, I have
learned a great deal about how to make fair decisions. This exposure and experience has
increased my capacity and ability to serve.
Today, I am in business to achieve my goals and objectives to use the business environment
to create value for our people, our homeland and to build, and contribute towards a caring
society.
It is great to be able to participate in the development of human capacity through nonprofit
organizations, supporting women in leadership and assisting young leaders to bring light to our
country and to the international world.
As a child growing up in an occupied country was not easy. It is even harder for girls if the
society is male dominant. These two main challenges shaped my vision for life. I always
wanted our homeland to be free from occupation and at the same time, I wanted if possible, to
be example for other women who were not sure about how to develop their own potential and
capacity.
I was actively involved in our efforts to make our homeland and people free in the early stages
of my life. After freedom from Saddam Hussein’s tyranny, I started my work in junior positions
and worked hard until I moved up the corporate ladder. This means that other young women
can achieve as I have done. This is the story that I have to tell. That anything is possible!
