NNA – An exhibition by the outstanding Ukrainian scholar, writer and translator, Ahatanhel Krymsky, will be inaugurated on June 22, 2019, at the Municipality of Shweir-Ain Sindyaneh, Lebanon.
In a press release by the Embassy of Ukraine in Lebanon, it said: “The purpose of the event is to present common pages of Ukrainian-Lebanese history, promote mutual enrichment of Ukrainian and Lebanese cultures, and to strengthen bilateral relations.
The acquaintance of Ahatanhel Krymsky with the Arabic Orient started from Lebanon, where he lived from October 1896 to May 1898, mainly in Beirut and the mountainous town of Shweir.

His correspondence with his relatives formed the basis for the book “Beirut Stories”. Namely, this period of life in Lebanon inspired the scientist to write the Beirut cycle of poems “Palm tree.”
The exposition will include some letters from Lebanon to his relatives in Ukraine and photos about the scholar’s staying in Shweir that will later become the basis for the future museum of A. Krymsky in this city.
During the opening of the exhibition, the sculptural composition of A. Krymsky, performed by Pierre Karam, the famous Lebanese sculptor, will be awarded to the Shweir Municipality.
